Presentation on Design by Kevin Bickes April 5
About 20 members gathered at Gigzz in Ormstown to listen to local landscaper and designer speak to us on things to consider when starting to landscape your property. I think even those of us who have been gardening for years and have mature gardens could learn a thing or two from him. And if you are a new gardener or planning on a redesign, we learned principals needed to reduce the mistakes many of us make and have a successful design for our properties. Thank you, Kevin and Christine ( the sweets were delicious). |
Wine & Cheese 2023
The annual wine, cheese and awards presentation evening was held December 1st at the St Antoine Community Center. The hall was festively decorated with fir boughs, twinkling lights and poinsettias that were given away as door prizes. The food table held the delicious snacks of cheese, crackers, hors d'ouevres and sweets that the members provided. A stunning natural woodland center piece created by Nathalie Bossé graced the food table. Background music accompanied the slide show of gardens and activities of the year as members and guests socialized. After everyone had enjoyed the refreshments, gifts, awards and prizes were presented.
A wonderful evening brought to a close our 2023 season. |
March 23, 2024 Garden Design
Our first event of the 2024 CVGC calendar year was a great success. On March 23rd, the club held a double event afternoon with 24 members in attendance. We began with an interesting movie on Garden Design by author, journalist and blogger Alexandra Campbell from the successful blog ´The Middle-Sized Garden’. She provided much inspiration on creating many unique and enticing garden spaces. Following, there was a presentation by our own club member, Nathalie Bosse, who operates La Bonne Brise, a floral farm in Franklin, on ´Waking up Dahlias’. Nathalie provided a most informative talk about identifying viable tubers and the best methods to ensure success. She also came equipped with specimens to help us understand what to look for and how to trim and manage the tubers. Many thanks to Nathalie. |
